To reach Gaiole in Chianti From Siena, near the train station, take the road S408 with direction Gaiole in Chianti. The town is at 28 Km distance from Siena, 70 Km from Florence, 120 Km from Pisa and 50 Km from Arezzo.

Comune di Gaiole in Chianti extends for 129 square km between the hill country of Chianti and the hills of the Val d'Arbia. It had its origins in mediaeval times as the market to the Castles of Vertine and Barbischio and became the seat of a comune with the Leopoldian reforms in 1774. Official documents dating back to 1215 show its importance as a trading post and this was to carry on expanding with the constitution of the "Lega del Chianti" in 1300 with Gaiole as the head of the "terzieri" together with Radda and Castellina. Nowadays this is a popular resort visited by tourists from all over the world to enjoy its mild climate and nature beauties.
